Beauty Trend: “The Lobe Lift”

For a long, long time, people have been coming up with new and creative ways to “fix” everything they perceive to be wrong with their appearance. Fillers, which typically refer to injections of Restyling or other Hyaluronic acid, are widely used to plump any area of your face you feel is lacking. At first, we were in awe, but now we’ve gotten rather familiar with seeing, or at least, hearing about lips and cheeks fillers to help plump up the lip or smoothen the cheeks. However, there is now some new place women are filling, and it may surprise you. (It definitely surprised me). It’s the earlobes! Yes, earlobes!

According to Allure.com, earlobe fillers are a growing anti-ageing trend, and while it may be shocking, one could see the sense in filling the earlobes. The face isn’t the only area that shows signs of ageing after-all. Many times, due to heavy chandelier earrings or just the natural ageing process, the earlobes lose their elasticity, which makes them droop, wrinkle and begin to look flappy, making it harder to hold earrings. But thanks to new and ever evolving beauty trends, fillers are now injected into the earlobes too, to “restore a more youthful, less shrivelled lobe,” says Dr Kenneth Beer. One Dr Francesca Fusco, a New York City dermatologist had this to say about this growing trend, “We’ve mastered the face, neck and chest, so it’s only natural that the ear area would be next”. This non-surgical procedure is called the earlobe rejuvenation or a ‘Lobe Lift’, which can restore volume and help to keep earrings in place. According to Jenna Rennert, writer at Vogue.com, the injections prevent delicate lobes from ripping and provide extra cushioning for heavy jewellery.

But if you’ve never been one to worry about your earlobes, there’s no need to start now. However, if you have been insecure about your ears, or thought you were forever doomed to that earring-induced sagging, a little plump just might be the solution you’ve been waiting for. You no longer have to retire those runway-worthy earrings just to save your skin, but please, do give them a rest once in a while.  Filler or not, your earlobes will thank you in the long run.
