An oily and sweaty skin during the raining season attracts more dirt and chemical pollutants, leading to pimples, rashes, and all sort of skin condition. Therefore, for you to enjoy this rainy season thoroughly, you need to take care of your skin in order to avoid skin problems that are associated with the season due to dampness, chillness and wetness. Here are some simple tips to help you take care of your skin throughout the rains.

Getting wet is very common in this season. However, you need to take care to dry yourself and ensure that there is no dampness in skin folds, scalp and feet so that they do not become breeding grounds for bacteria and fungi.

Hot showers and a steam bath sound inviting in this season. However, they tend to remove moisture and damage delicate facial skin. Hence, it is important that you bathe and shower in lukewarm or tepid water.

Many people tend to feel sticky and oily during the rainy season. Though using wipes could be a quick solution, it is definitely not a permanent one. Make it a point to follow deep cleansing routines like washing your face regularly and following a strict shampoo & conditioning routine to avoid bacterial growth and skin break-outs.

Many people carry the misconception that sun protection is needed only in summer. In reality, in rainy season, you need to continue to use sunscreen lotions since the sun is still beating down and you might not even sense it that much because of the lack of heat.

Going on a crash diet and low-fat options could actually back fire during this season. Oily fish, eggs, flax seeds, walnuts and dark green vegetables contain essential fatty acids that are needed for proper skin repair mechanism and flexibility. Strictly avoid spicy and oily food.

Consuming increasing amounts of coffee & alcohol removes moisture from the skin and also leads to faster wrinkling. Coffee also aggravates acidity. As for smoking, we all know how it can destroy the body and skin; the hair is no less affected. And it further contributes to dehydration during this season. It must be avoided.

Drinking at least 8 to 10 glasses of water a day is essential to keep your skin hydrated and prevent skin problems by eliminating toxins. This is especially important during this season due to the constant sweating that leads to dehydration.

Many soaps, cleansers and lotions contain alcohol derivatives that irritate skin and leave it dry. Opt for organic alternatives that will effectively cleanse your skin by removing dust and grime while keeping your skin moisturized and free of bacterial infections at the same time.

In this season, the bowel movement could easily get disturbed which will ultimately show on your skin. Take some raisins, figs, or prunes which are mild and help to set right bowel movements by flushing out toxins and wastes from the body. Ensuring proper digestion is very important in order to have healthy skin.

Avoid heavy makeup during the raining season, instead opt for a water proof makeup to maintain that natural charm and beauty. Bleaching and facials should be avoided during this season, as they could do more harm than good for your face.

If there is rash, pimples or acne, wash the face with a medicated soap or cleanser twice a day. Wash the face several times a day with plenty of plain water. You can also apply a rose based skin toner, which not only completes the cleansing procedure, but also helps to close the pores and restore the normal acid-alkaline balance.

If there are blackheads, a facial scrub should be used on the blackhead-prone areas. But do not apply scrubs on acne, pimples or rash. Mix rice powder with rose water and apply it on the areas with blackheads daily. Rub gently on the skin with circular movements. Leave on for 5 minutes and wash off with water. This can be done after cleansing in the morning.

Pay special attention to the feet. Fungal infections can lead to Athlete’s Foot. After washing them well, dry them thoroughly and apply talcum powder. During hot and humid weather, wear open footwear, so that the sweat evaporates. This helps to avoid fungal infections like Athlete’s Foot and ring worm which grow on moist skin.
