Gombe Govt Upskillst 144 Master Crafts To Man Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park

The Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project has commenced a five day training for 144 Master Craft Persons to upskill them in five trades.
Speaking while declaring the training open, the Gombe State Commissioner for Education Professor A’ishatu Umar Maigari said the training is meant to certify the master crafts who specialized in various skills to make them in par with the ideals of the 21st century.
The Commissioner said in line with the state government’s commitments to ensuring competence and self-reliance among youths, the trainees will step down the training to at least ten others each across the 114 wards of of the state.
While encouraging them to pay much attention on the training, Professor A’ishatu Maigari said upon graduation, Gombe State will look onto the master crafts to benefit from their skills in the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park without necessarily scouting for skilled manpower outside the state.
She appreciated the organizers for making Gombe the first amongst the six pilot states that will champion the program in Nigeria.
In their address, the State Project Coordinator IDEAS, Aminu Shehu and the Project Manager ADK Muhammad, charged the participants to make good use of the opportunity and make Gombe proud. The dou added that the training program is the first and will continue.
The Executive Secretary National Board for Technical Education Professor Idris Gudaji represented by Malam Lawal Hafiz, said the project is meant to upskill the capacity of the master crafts to make them acquire new techniques in the five selected trades. He appreciated Gombe State Government for its commitments towards the project, a development he said make it first to kick-start the pilot training.
On his part, the Chief Host and Provost Federal College of Education (Technical) Gombe Dr Ali Adamu Boɗeri, said the college has all the required equipment and facilities to ensure success of the training.
Speaking on behalf of the benefitiaries, Sani Bello Yusuf, appreciated Gombe State Government for the opportunity, assuring of their commitments to stepdown the knowledge and make use of the advantages brought by the project.
IDEAS Project is being organized by the National Board for Technical Education under the Federal Ministry of Education In partnership with Gombe State Government and sponsored by the World Bank.
The trades to upskill the master crafts upon are carpentry and joinery, welding and fabrications, fashion and design, information communication technology (ICT) and phone repair.
