Fayemi Meets Widow Of Olasunkanmi Olawunmi Killed In Abuja Crash (Photos)

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi on Tuesday met Omolola Olawunmi widow of the Ogotun Ekiti native Flight Sergeant Olasunkanmi Olawunmi who died in the military plane crash on Sunday, Igbere TV reports.

Olawunmi was among seven persons onboard the aircraft. There was no survivor in the crash.

Mr Fayemi shared photos on Twitter from his visit to the bereaved family.

He said:

“Spent this morning with Mrs Omolola Olawunmi, wife of our son from Ogotun Ekiti, Flight Sergeant Olasunkanmi Olawunmi who died in the Air Force plane crash on Sunday. May the soul of the dear departed rest in peace.”

 

The Beechcraft KingAir B350i aircraft en route Minna in Niger State crashed close to the runway of the Abuja airport after reporting engine failure.

Others who died include Flight Lieutenant Haruna Gadzama (captain), Flight Lieutenant Henry Piyo (co-pilot), Flying Officer Michael Okpara (airborne tactical observation system (ATOS) specialist).

‌The rest are Warrant Officer Bassey Etim (ATOS specialist), Sergeant Ugochukwu Oluka (ATOS specialist) and Aircraftman Adewale Johnson (onboard technician).

In a statement, the Nigerian Air Force spokesman Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola said the chief of air staff Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Amao had ordered an immediate probe of the accident.

The NAF spokesman also said the officers were “scheduled to conduct surveillance missions over Niger State and its environs in connection with the concerted efforts to secure the release of the students/staff abducted from the Government Science College Kagara, Niger State.”
