Following the recent release of promotion list by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), fourteen officers of NSCDC Jigawa State Command were on Friday, 29th day of December, 2023 decorated with new ranks of Deputy Commandants and Assistant Commandants of Corps.
The decoration exercise took place at the Zonal Command Headquarters, Zone ‘N’ Kano, which comprises of Kano and Jigawa States respectively.
Nine officers were decorated from the rank of Assistant Commandants to Deputy Commandants (DCC), and six officers from the rank of Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commandants of Corps (ACC). The Head of Administration, three Area Commanders were among those decorated to the rank of Deputy Commandants while the Command Public Relations Officer is among the six other officers decorated to the rank of Assistant Commandant.
The Zonal Commander, Assistant Commandant General Professor Iliya Sarki Dongs was assisted in decorating the newly promoted officers by the Jigawa State Commandant, Danjuma Muhammed and his Kano State counterpart, Muhammad Lawal Falala who also has 10 senior officers from his Command decorated.
Addressing the newly decorated officers, the Zonal Commander while congratulating them, charged the senior officers to reciprocate the gesture by working hard in ensuring the protection of lives and property of the citizenry as well as protection of critical National assets and infrastructure. In his words “new ranks means new commitment, dedication and added responsibility, as such you must strive hard to ensure you give your best in uplifting the corps to a greater height”. And i believed your promotion is as a result of your dedication, resilience as well as commitment to duty”, he added.
He also used the opportunity to thank the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR for keeping up with his promise of enhancing personnel welfare.
The ACG equally used the occasion to announced his retirement from the service in the month of January, 2024 after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 years. He thanked the State Commandants of the two States and those at the Zonal command as well as the entire officers and men under the Zone for their unwavering support and cooperation which he says has made significant impact during his stay and the corps in particular.
The Zonal Commander finally directed for the decoration of other promoted officers from the rank of Chief Superintendents to Assistant Superintendents in their various commands by their respective State Commandants.
Highlights of the occasion include group photographs with the Zonal Commander, State Commandants, celebrants as well as family and friends.
