President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to follow due legal process by obtaining a court order before lifting the freeze placed on the Osun State Government’s bank account.
According to reports, the President emphasized that any decision to freeze or unfreeze a government account must be backed by a valid court order to ensure transparency, accountability, and respect for the rule of law.
The directive follows the ongoing dispute over Osun State’s local government funds, which has sparked disagreements between the state government and federal authorities.
Observers believe the President’s decision underscores the importance of resolving financial and governance disputes through lawful judicial processes rather than administrative actions alone. It is also expected to help clarify the legal position on the matter and promote a peaceful resolution that will allow government activities to continue without disruption.
