President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the permanent employment of 3,252 teachers previously engaged under Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) arrangements into the Federal Ministry of Education.
The approval is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s education sector by addressing teacher shortages in federal unity colleges and improving the quality of teaching and learning across the country.
According to the government, the decision recognizes the contributions of PTA teachers, many of whom have served for years under temporary arrangements. Their regularization is also expected to improve staff welfare, boost morale, and ensure greater stability in the education system.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing it as a positive step toward enhancing learning outcomes and reinforcing the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the nation’s education sector.
