The much-anticipated 2023 General Elections are here!
2023 General Elections as scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to hold on Saturday, February 25, 2023 and Saturday, March 11, 2023 for the Presidential/National Assembly and Gubernatorial/States Assemblies respectively is finally here! It’s a defining moment.
Today, Saturday, February 25, 2023, Nigerians will decide on who, among the 18 Presidential Candidates, becomes the next President. They would also vote for candidates of their choice who would represent their interests at the National Assembly.
As early as 7.30am, officials of INEC were seen at various polling units awaiting the arrival of election materials. While materials arrived early at some polling units, others were still expecting as at 9.20am.
Accreditation of voters commenced as early as 8.00am in some polling units with the use of the newly introduced BVAS machines. In some polling units, the BVAS machines could not pick up on time thereby delayed early accreditation.
However, reports from across the states, indicated that conduct of the election is going on smoothly and peacefully and there was the presence of security agencies.
As Nigerians troop out in their numbers to exercise their civic duty, they hope that their vote counts.
