Yippee its Monday; the first day of another promising week and our #mancrushMonday is no other person than the true ‘Hero of Nigeria’s Democracy; Prof Attahiru Muhammadu Jega. Born on 11 January 1957 in Jega, Kebbi State; he attended Sabon Gari Town Primary School and Government Secondary School, Birnin Kebbi. He proceeded to the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and graduated with a second class Bsc in political science. He worked as a Teaching Assistant at Bayero University Kano and Evanston Illinois in the United States. Jega went further to earn a PhD in political sciences and thereafter returned to the Department of Political science Bayero University in 1984 as a lecturer. After that he was a visiting Research Fellow, Department of Political Science, and University of Stocholm, Sweden. All these gained him a position to become the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission on the 8th of June 2010. Jega made history on Wednesday 1st of April 2015 as he stood his ground in making sure the 2015 elections was free, fair, just and credible ensuring the people’s mandate was not overturned. Jega was also a former president of the Academic staff union of
Universities (ASUU) during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. Under his leadership as chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, elections were conducted in what Nigerians and the world see as free, fair and credible elections. No doubt our #mancrushMonday is an honest, truthful and God fearing man.
